In June 2019 Michael Nissim, the leader of a messianic congregation in northern Israel, put out a video documenting some of the disturbing connections between the Tikkun/Revive Israel NARpostlolic networks and some very, very dodgy ministries. He was attacked on line by a woman called Donna Diorio who publishes a prayer bulletin called "Arrows from Zion". Diorio claimed that Michael is a slanderer, and that there is actually no connection at all between Tikkun and those whom she called the "flakiest of the flakes". This series examines the truth of her claims by exposing even further Tikkun's connections to the NAR and hypercharismania.
As there is no one else in view, we assume that “the flakiest of the flakes” that Donna Diorio mentions in her article are those same hypercharismaniac ministries and phenomena actually being critiqued in Michael Nissim's video. Here's the first one:
Donna's Flakiest No. 1: Chuck Pierce and "Glory of Zion"
The video footage of the bizarre “roar of healing” craziness alone should tell us that Chuck and Glory of Zion are out there with the fairies, and there’s plenty more material where that came from. Glory of Zion (GOZ for short) is an absolute gold-mine of weird; replete with Chuck's made up prophecies and kooky new-agey sounding catch-phrases and terminology strung together in (almost) coherent but ultimately meaningless sentences.
If you've ever listened to Pierce and thought that his nonsensical prophecies sound more like numerology than Scripture and have more than a whiff of horoscope, you're not alone:
However, here's where the fun begins; in his personal history of Tikkun, senior NARpostle Dan Juster refers to Pierce as a "influential international leader" and it is very clear that he actually regards the wacky and utterly unbiblical Pierce as a real prophet. I kid you not.
Through the years Pierce has had a significant role at key points within Tikkun's NARpostolic history.
Tikkun leader Eitan Shiskoff prophetically influenced by Chuck Pierce
In the early Pierce's influence helped to draw Eitan Shishkoff (now a fellow NARpostle with Juster and Intrater) into what would later become Tikkun:
“Eitan arrived at Beth Messiah in 1982. He first worked at a photo shop when he came to serve with us. He was a skilled photographer and had been serving in a ministry named Shalom that reached Hispanics and Native Americans. A Messianic Jewish patriarch, Eliazer Urbach, told him that he should be ministering to his own people. A young Chuck Pierce also had prophetic input to this direction.”
Pierce's prophetic input into NARpostle Dan Juster's ecumenical TJCII Movement
Juster later recounts Chuck Pierce's prophetic influence at the 2006 TJCII (Towards Jerusalem Council Two) ecumenical conference devoted to reuniting Christendom. TJCII has been a longstanding vision of Juster's.
"In September 2006, we finally had the meeting I had originally envisioned with John Dawson in 1995. We had waited so long; it seemed like there was always such a battle to make it happen. International leaders and leaders of intercession came together to participate in mutual repentance and affirmation of Messianic Jewish restoration. . . . . Archbishop Zimbi was planning on attending, but in the end, he sent another bishop to represent him instead. Ulf Eckman [Eckman by the way, is a kind of Swedish Kenneth Copeland who recently converted to Roman Catholicism] from Sweden, the prophet Chuck Pierce from Dallas, and many other influential Christian leaders were present. This conference was truly groundbreaking and enabled the intercessory representatives of the Church world to officially recognize and affirm the restoration and calling of the Messianic Jews. Finally, the burden I had been carrying for over 11 years for this conference lifted.”
More from the same event:
"At the Toward Jerusalem Council II Convocation in September 2006, Patty received a vision of a cloth that had been torn, indicating the tearing of the kingdom of ancient Israel into ten and two pieces. Ten were ruled by Jeroboam and two by Rehoboam. In a similar way, the Kingdom of God had been divided due to sin. (Ed. note -according to this perspective the Reformation was a sinful act) The Jewish part was represented by two cloths and the pieces of 10 represented the world wide Church. She said that God was now working to restore this as one whole cloth once again. As a result, Christian leaders representing different streams brought their clothes and handed them to the Jerusalem leaders. Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican, Lutheran, Reformed, Methodist, Pentecostal and other church leaders were present. It is difficult to describe what took place in mere words. The anointing on this prophetic act was pronounced and groundbreaking; Monsignor Peter Hocken included it as the main story in the TJCII newsletter. Other prophetic leaders, including David Rudolph, John Dawson, Chuck Pierce, and the whole TJCII board embraced this event as the height of the entire conference. The prophetic truly took us into a newer, deeper realm and into a place of breakthrough and victory. Not to mention, a breakthrough took place within Patty and enabled her to have the courage to stand up and speak at such a gathering. God once again used her in a mighty way."
A vision at Chuck Pierce’s Prophetic New Year Conference
“In January 2007, Patty again received a strong word from God at Chuck Pierce’s Prophetic New Year conference in Dallas. Patty had a vision of two sticks coming together representing Israel and Judah. They were to be one stick. She saw this as also an analogy for Jews and Gentiles to become one in the Body of Messiah. . . . When we arrived, Patty then shared the vision and her sense of the prophetic act with Chuck Pierce, and he immediately became excited. It was exactly parallel to what the Lord had shown him. He had two large poles made prior to the conference. One represented Israel and the other represented the United States and the nations. Chuck knew that Patty had supplied the missing piece. When he called Patty to the stage, there was an overwhelming anointing. With great confidence and articulate speech, she explained the vision. Chuck then called Pastor Robert Heidler and me to assist Patty in grafting these two sticks (poles) together. . .”
Chuck Pierce and Tikkun leader Paul Wilbur
Here is Chuck Pierce appearing at senior Tikkun leader Paul Wilbur's First Friday event in April 2019. Note how Wilbur refers to Pierce's prophetic ministry in glowing tones.
Below is Chuck Pierce at an earlier event with Wilbur.
Note the fake tongues and the vague meaningless jargon that passes for prophecy.
What is absolutely clear from all this: Chuck Pierce has been and still is a recognised authoritative prophetic voice for Tikkun; his “prophetic” input has significantly impacted their ministry and they are still in co-operative and approving association with him to this day. Pierce however, is a false prophet who babbles incomprehensible and ultimately meaningless new-agey drivel.
The final nail in the “no connection between Tikkun and Chuck Pierce's loony tunes Glory of Zion” coffin is this:
In 2010 Chuck Pierce took over from Peter Wagner as leader of Global Harvest Ministries. He renamed it to Global Spheres. Here you can see that Daniel and Patty Juster are listed among the Asia members of Pierce’s Global Spheres network. The text below is from the Global Spheres Website description:
“GSI is an apostolic network of individuals who have relationship with Chuck Pierce or Doris Wagner, and are aligned in a Kingdom expression of their call and giftings. As such, membership is by invitation-only. If you are interested in the Sphere, we encourage you to visit the website for Chuck Pierce’s ministry, Glory of Zion International, for information on how to connect and align there, and begin forming the relationships that comprise the Global Spheres, Inc. network. The web address is www.gloryofzion.org.”
Here's some more from the same site:
“Since the onset of GSI, we have constantly been moving individuals in every sphere from the pastoral, prophetic and intercessory movements into this better defined apostolic wineskin that aligns apostolic, prophetic leaders around the world. To be successful, we need prayer, prophetic revelation, apostolic leadership, and a developed strategy for transformation that will penetrate each molder of culture in a nation with God’s Kingdom plan.” (You can find this here)
Dan Juster (and therefore Tikkun as well) are part of Pierce's apostolic network and apostolically aligned with Pierce.
Is there then NO Connection between Tikkun and "flakiest of the flakes" Chuck Pierce as Donna Diorio insists?
We think the answer is pretty obvious. Donna simply hasn't got her facts straight on this one.
Historically and to the present day, there has been and still is a strong ministerial and co-operative connection between Tikkun and Pierce. Tikkun is aligned with Pierce and part of his apostolic network; their leaders esteem his "prophetic" ministry and endorse him as God's messenger to the nations. Need we say more?
Well actually we are going to say more. We're not finished yet; oh no! Watch this space for part three.
